Recently, I participated in a conference focused on technologies for intervention with Autistics children. The conference was fascinating and Timocco had a stand for demonstration.
A lot of “Speech Therapist”, “Occupational therapists” and parents attended the Timocco stand and was curious about its benefits in related to that population.
I explained them that the games supports adjustment of the activity for therapeutic purposes according to the child’s need, for example; work on the child’s acceptance of game rules, the ability to share common space, relate to the presence of others and be at joint attention.
Everyone had the chance to try it out and to have the full experience of Timocco. Some of them played with a partner, by sharing the gloves that control the game (each one wear only one of the two gloves). The game challenged the partners to join hands and coordinate their movements (to clap hands together or move their hands simultaneously), to take turns and be aware of their partner’s role / position and place.
Many of the therapist showed interest in purchasing the system, and was happy to discover that the system is available for a reasonable price, and that it is already in use in schools, clinics and in private homes. Some of them that are already using Timocco in their clinics were excited to discover new ways to integrate the games with therapy for the autistic population.
A great deal of interest came from parents that were present in the conference, some of them even purchased the “Growing with Timocco” package on the spot, for their kids at home.
All together I had a great experience and was inspired by the feedbacks and reactions of the parents and therapist to the Timocco system.
