Hi, I like to use specific elements from Timocco and integrate them in the therapy session. For example, after playing with the Balloon game I begin another activity with real balloons. I might encourage the child to choose balloons in different colors and shapes and then paint them or have the child throw and catch the balloons. Sometimes I use characters found in the game to increase the child’s motivation for drawing and painting. The child can draw Timocco the monkey at the playground, with … [Read more...]
Rina Mintz, PT says Bubble Bath game is in high demand!
Over the past year, I’ve been discovering the wonders of Timocco along with my employees. Even kids over 9 years old with CP and normal cognitive abilities are eager to succeed in the games which allows me to focus on building the child’s endurance. From my experience the children especially enjoyed, regardless of age or ability, the bubble bath game. They all understand the target of the game and it’s very easy to adapt the game to each child’s ability. Whenever the kids get to choose – it’s … [Read more...]
Ask Sarit: I’m working with a child with DCD, we’ve been playing the falling fruit game to practice mid-line crossing – what else can we do?
The “Falling Fruit” game is a great place to start! You’re able to choose whether the child will cross the middle line of the body from left-to-right / right-to-left on both sides (for example the fruit can appear on the right hand side of the screen and the child needs to drag them all the way towards the correct basket that is located on the left hand side of the screen). Typically children with DCD are challenged by poor acquisition of other motor skills like hand-eye … [Read more...]
A client recommendation (Thank you!)
Timocco the monkey raises smiles on children's faces in therapy. The kids are having fun and are so concentrated that they’re not aware that they are actually working very hard. It is amazing to see a child with low muscle tone and shoulder weakness, able to play with both arms in the air for an entire five minutes or more, with very short breaks. The motivation level with Timocco is so high, I can challenge the kids' motor functions even more than with regular games and standard … [Read more...]
Ask Sarit: What kind of program would you recommend for a 5 year old child with Hemiparesis?
“What kind of program would you recommend for a 5 year old child with Hemiparesis ?” Some time ago I worked with a child facing similar difficulties and recorded a video of the amazing results - the child is totally motivated to move his weak hand (red ball) and even asks to play the game again! In my experience starting with a representative, simple activity that provides the child with strong and positive feedback, preferably a game he/she can’t fail, produces the best … [Read more...]
Case Report: David rises above grapho-motor difficulties
Background Over the past 6 months Sarah Orit Torem has been providing occupational therapy intervention to David, a 7 year old with grapho-motor difficulties, at the Regional Special Education Support Center "Ma'ale Vehar". David’s initial evaluation showed good visual perception and self-awareness with regard to his own difficulties. He found it challenging to perform jumps, play ball games, cross the midline and motor planning. David refrained from using the facilities in the room and … [Read more...]
Tim-Impact or Tim-Factor? Help us decide.
We at Timocco believe that the road to developing skills and abilities is built on a mountain of practice and fuelled by motivation. That belief is so strong, we built an entire product around the idea. :) When we started in the clinic environment, thousands of kids were being motivated to practice their skills using Timocco, of course the next step was trying to figure out how we could push kids to practice even more, so naturally we looked for a way to help therapists extend the clinic … [Read more...]
Ask Sarit: how should I use Timocco to help 4 year old with cerebral palsy?
Q: Hi, I’m working with a high-functioning 4 year old with cerebral palsy on improving daily functioning and social interaction. He is able to function independently - he can stand and move around without any support and is mostly dealing with difficulties in balance and coordination – how should I use Timocco to help him? A: Based on your description and because of the child's young age, I would focus on developing hand-eye coordination, an understanding of cause and effect, body awareness, … [Read more...]
