Timocco is fast becoming a must-have product in schools and nurseries teaching children with SEN and various other physical and mental disabilities. One such school is Charlton Park School, Greenwich, which has been using Timocco for some time and is seeing excellent results amongst its pupils.
Kathryn Stowell, Head of Information Computer Technology at Charlton School explained what interested her about Timocco: “I first saw it at the BETT Show and thought it looked fantastic. As a school, we like to trial new, innovative equipment and Timocco is a unique product because it actually tracks the students’ movements and provides us with data that enables us to monitor their progress. I have successfully used the product with many of my students and it forms an integral part of the school’s ‘Movement’ mobility program.”
Katie Chapman teaches a class of students with profound and multiple learning difficulties and varying levels of physical impairment at Charlton Park School. She says Timocco has been an excellent addition to her lessons because as well as increasing the students’ fine motor skills and awareness of cause and effect it is a fun and engaging activity that they can really enjoy. “Each and every one of my students benefits from playing. Even those with a small range of movements can still use it successfully as the settings can be tailored to suit each child’s abilities and requirements. I can tell how much the children enjoy it by seeing how engaged they are; they are all non-verbal but they show their enjoyment through facial expressions and it is obvious by their smiles.”
Katie uses Timocco everyday in morning communication sessions: “Playing Timocco is a great start to the day because it gives my pupils a great sense of achievement, building their confidence and enthusiasm to learn. They are much more engaged in lessons after playing Timocco because it gives them the stimulation they need and breaks up their day.”
Both Kathryn and Katie have seen incredible improvements with their pupils thanks to Timocco: “We would certainly recommend Timocco to other teachers and have already recommended the Home edition to parents so that they can enjoy playing at home and engaging with their children in a fun, interactive way.”
