For this week’s OT Expert Series, I want to share a review from an Occupational Therapist and Director of a child and family clinic, and how she used Timocco games to treat her children patients
Timocco the Monkey truly puts a smile on the faces of children in care. Children so enjoy the Timocco games. Each child concentrated with such focus until they were not at all aware that they are actually working very hard. It was amazing to see how a child with a weak shoulder, can play with both hands in the air for five full minutes or more, with only short breaks during the activity. The level of motivation of the children during an activity with “Growing with Timocco” is so high; I can challenge their motor skills easily, rather than using standard games and exercises.
When children show difficulty in motor and motion planning, they are surprised in their ability to learn the movement patterns required to run the monkey on their computer effectively. They manage to slow down the movement of their hands, to regulate the speed, and plan the trajectory in order to follow Timocco the Monkey and succeed and advance in the game. Timocco games have activities that enhance a wide range of motor and perceptual skills. In fact, the system allows me to set up the game and select specific properties for each child in a training program tailored to his personal needs and the child’s own pace.
