Occupational Therapist and founder of Timocco, Sarit Tresser was interviewed by OT Experts about the health elements and the development of the Timocco Games. Tresser describes the usability and functionality of the virtual reality computer games.
There are countless improvements in motor and cognitive skills that evolve through playing. With the use of special gloves, children interact in a virtual reality environment as “Timocco the monkey.” Each game works on a different type of skill to motivate the child at a different level according to their disability. This includes CB, dyspraxia, motor controls, ADHD and more.
By playing a fun game, and using both hands simultaneously the child is improving bilateral coordination, posture and more, all while doing activities such as popping bubbles. At times a child may neglect their rehabilitation therapy because of the strain on their limbs, but with the Timocco games the child is absorbed in the fun game, hence the activity is enjoyable as well as useful. The child is working on the condition without realizing it. In addition, the games can be used both within the home, useful for parent child interaction, as well as in the confines of a therapy session with a professional.
We would like to thank OT Experts for their warm accommodation!
